History and Description:
\The Lincoln Parks and Recreation Foundation, a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit corporation, was established in 1992 to provide \margin of quality\ financing to the City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation programs and facilities, in partnership with the Parks and Recreation Department and local organizations by securing, managing and allocating private funding over and above the responsibility of city government, all in an effort to ensure the continued development and betterment of a quality parks and recreational system in the community

While boasting 83 playgrounds, 11 pools, 7 recreation centers and 64 miles of commuter / recreation trails, the Parks and Recreation System is lagging behind the City\'s growth. It is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the current level of park use while trying to maintain the system for future generations.\
